Several severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for parts of southeast PA this morning as an intense bow-echo continues to race southeastward towards Philadelphia. Winds in excess of 60 mph and large hail can be expected with this MCS, and new intense convection is expected to develop on the south side of the line. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for this area, given the weakly capped, moderately unstable airmass downstream.

wow, that bow echo looks pretty interesting on radar and several severe T-storm warnings have been issued!!
Here's that update from NOAA on the Atlantic hurricane season that some of us were talking about the other day.
MIAMI, Florida (AP) - Government forecasters minimally reduced their prediction for the Atlantic hurricane season Thursday, saying up to nine hurricanes and up to 16 tropical storms are expected to form.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration maintained its estimate that three to five of the hurricanes would be strong. The original report forecast up to 17 tropical storms, with up to 10 becoming hurricanes.

Here's the full NOAA update, issued today:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/outlooks/hurricane.shtml
"NOAA is predicting a very high likelihood (85% chance) of an above-normal 2007 Atlantic hurricane season, a 10% chance of a near-normal season, and only a 5% chance of a below-normal season"
Well that doesn't explain much..... I really think they are overdoing it like they always do! An 85% of an abovenormal hurricane season??? Come on!! As of now there are no official developments in the atlantic..
Well zack, they're actually pretty conservative and scientific in their predictions. Notice they give ranges of possibilities. The bell curve goes all the way from a bust to above normal.
In other news, Tropical Storm "Flossie" finally formed! (Pacific). Wheee, what a name!
Hey u never know there could be a above average hurricane season. but who knows its still early isnt.
Well that leads to my next question. When does hurricane season start???
EF-2 tornado touched down Wednesday
(New York - WABC) - A ferocious tornado cut a path of destruction through Brooklyn Wednesday morning, tearing off roofs and knocking over hundreds of trees. It was one of the most powerful storms in New York City history.
The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Brooklyn and now the cleanup begins.
Some power outages are reported through out tri-state area. Also, subway and roads are returning to normal with some lingering delays after storm.
Ta Jooe i would have to say that is an awesome name i think all name my first kid Flossie. hahahaha ya right!!!
It's already started. June thru November for the Atlantic
*Although Aug-Oct are the main months
Some things should start to heat up in the next little bit
Flossie hahaha!!! I love that name... Yeah Matt hurricane season starts on June 1st and ends November 30th. The peak season starts from August through October. Sorry but even though I have quite a bit of knowledge on hurricanes I just don't really care for them. Tornadoes are my cup of tea lol. Anyway what are the updates on tropical storm Flossie?

Where is some info on Flossie. Looks to me like its heading right for Hawaii. I think thats Hawaii in the picture.
Yeah Matt that is Hawaii and it's heading striaght for it.. looks pretty impressive! Everyone go to Matts link for more info.
Ya but its just a tropical storm right now so i wouldnt be to worried in Hawaii. Looks like if it hits Hawaii that it will hit landin about a week. Just my not so educated quess.
Man where is everybody this is really begining to be boring!!!
Anyways im out but illbe back later hopefullymorepeople will be on here
I feel your pain Matt...lol. Reed really needs to get the chat up and running again.
OH DAMN!!! Im likin SPC new day 2 outlook for tomarrow... its definitally looking like a chase day for me!!
Also it's important to remember that the forecasts are just for the Atlantic hurricanes that may form, not for those that may make landfall. Last year there were five that formed but none hit the U.S. The Colorado State guys put a 68% chance of a Cat 3-5 hurricane hitting the U.S. coastline this year, so it could be anywhere from 0 to ?
Then again Reed/Joel seem willing to travel outside the U.S. to find them so I'll officially assign an 75% of a tv.net intercept this season :D
Hey guys... The heat is ferocious so I'm staying indoors today. Anyway since there is nothing interesting going on I have been browsing youtube and found this video that blew me out of the chair lol! Have you ever heard fergies song Fergalicious??? Well this is a parody of it and it is hilarious lol. Please watch this video!

You're definitely right about that Joe...we're hoping to intercept one in Mexico or the rest of the Caribbean this year. The ITCZ is finally moving north so we should have some more tropical waves to work with.
Tomorrow looks VERY interesting in eastern SD. We may have to make the trip north!
Reed or someone please watch that video it's hilarious!! Gay and scary but hilarious!!
A lot of action around my way, in N.Va....with more to come. Thank goodness, maybe put an end to the heat for a bit! Severe Thunderstorms with threats of tornados! We shall see.............
Zack. I watched the video you posted ... well, about 1 minute of it. I have a general aversion to pop music in general, but especially those nasty-girl kinds of "singers" (*shudder*) so this was a little more than I could handle, even though it was a parody. Just so you know! :)
It was 103.3 here a bit ago.
